Trade Union
The brief for this project was to conceptually create something based on the archives found in the Trade Union Movement Library. As the brief was very broad, it allowed me to express a strong voice. To do this, I found something that’s still relate-able in today’s society. I chose the eight hour movement as it pushed for our rights on shorter working hours and days. Inspired by bold typography and colours I decided to create striking posters that highlight the strong message behind the Trade Union. The idea is to explore how people feel about having no money, time or power and finding the balance between them all.
Using the risograph to mass produce these protesting publications really made them stand out! This was an appropriate way to mass produce the posters as they are repetitive and memorable. Perfect for taking strike action and grabbing peoples attention.
